Klara and The Sun: Taika Waititi Goes Full Woke

Summary: Capitalism is bad um’kay.

So not only does this film centre someone with a clear eating disorder and not address it, Jenna Ortega needs some help, but is the next in a long line of films to go capitalism is the route of all evil. Despite the fact that socialism has led to the deaths of millions of people worldwide.

The film is actively opposed to meritocracy, and maybe this was a theme in the book, but as modern times have proven giving people jobs and roles when they have no talent and aren’t qualified leads to messes like this film.

On top of that we have to get a heavy handed environmental lecture presented as a sub plot as well. As you can imagine this is handled with as much grace and subtly as a flaming brick thrown through a window.

This film feels like the death throws of woke Hollywood.

Let’s all be glad Waititi’s Star Wars film got shelved

1/5.
